Patch 0.2.1 of Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt brings one of the most impactful updates to the unique item drop system so far. This update finally addresses how Path of Exile 2 patch 0.2.1 chase uniques will work going forward. The goal is clear: make finding a Unique item exciting and realistic for all players, not just an unreachable dream.

Path of Exile 2 patch 0.2.1 chase uniques – Drop System Changes
Uniques in PoE2 are categorized into several rarity tiers: Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Mythic. Mythic Uniques like Headhunter, Mjolner, and Astramentis are designed to be highly desirable, but they’ve been far too rare to actually encounter.
Two major issues were identified:
The rarity distribution for Rare and Mythic Uniques was inherited from PoE1, but PoE1 granted far more Uniques overall, making Mythics much more accessible there than in PoE2.
When rolling for a Unique, the system would first choose an Item Class (such as Ring, Amulet, or Weapon), significantly reducing the odds of getting items like Amulets or Rings. As a result, a Mythic Amulet like Astramentis was about 47,000% rarer than a Divine Orb.
Patch 0.2.1 addresses these problems with key changes:
Item Class selection has been removed from the roll process.
Common Uniques now drop less often as Item Rarity increases, improving chances for Uncommon, Rare, and Mythic Uniques.
There’s a significant increase in the total number of Mythic Uniques that can now drop.
These improvements aim to make the drop experience feel far more rewarding, giving players a real chance to encounter something powerful in any map.
Mythic Unique Rebalancing
Some Uniques that were labeled "Mythic" but didn’t live up to the title have been rebalanced and buffed. The full list will be revealed with the patch, but several brand-new Mythic Uniques have already been previewed.
New Unique Items Previewed
Lioneye’s Glare
An iconic bow makes its return. The preview shows Lioneye himself recounting the story of his legion’s battle against Kaom.

Granted Skills:
Heart of Ice (Aura):

Improvements:

Cadiro’s Gambit
An endgame quiver themed around luck and randomness. Each arrow fired has a randomly chosen type with a unique effect.

Conclusion:
Path of Exile 2 patch 0.2.1 chase uniques represent a major shift toward making Unique hunting more rewarding, fair, and accessible. With the removal of Item Class selection, better rarity scaling, and a stronger pool of Mythic Uniques, players can finally feel like a legendary drop could be just around the corner.
And with exciting new items like Lioneye’s Glare, The Last Lament, The Whispering Ice, and Cadiro’s Gambit, endgame builds are about to get a lot more fun.
