Path of Exile 2 Nightfall and Redemption are two new Unique Items coming to Return of the Ancients.
During the presentation, Mark Roberts showcased Nightfall, a shield connected to the Breachlord Tull, and Redemption, a destructive Trathen weapon focused entirely on explosive gameplay.
Both uniques will be added to Path of Exile 2 with the launch of Return of the Ancients on May 29.

Nightfall — Tull’s Breachlord Shield
According to the reveal, Tull ruled over a frozen wasteland while constantly looking toward worlds beyond her own.
Nightfall introduces a new combat mechanic through the skill Soaring Midnight.
Using the skill throws the shield outward. If nothing else is done, the shield returns to the player automatically. However, using the skill again while the shield is still airborne teleports the player directly to the shield before slamming it into the ground.

Grinding Gear Games also revealed that catching the shield or destroying Ice Crystals resets the cooldown, allowing the skill to be used repeatedly under the right conditions.
Redemption — A New Grenade-Focused Weapon
The second unique shown was Redemption, a weapon created during the Trathen Wars and wielded by Ratha Azari herself.
Unlike normal crossbows, Redemption cannot use standard ammunition skills. Instead, the weapon is designed specifically around grenade gameplay.
GGG explained that the weapon rewards combining different grenades together to create an “explosive rhythm.”
One of the biggest reveals is that Redemption is not simply a modified crossbow. Grinding Gear Games confirmed they created an entirely new base type for the weapon.

This new base type can also appear as rare endgame items and includes a more grenade-oriented modifier pool.
Path of Exile 2 Nightfall and Redemption — Explosive Fervor
After causing enough destruction with Redemption, players can activate Explosive Fervor.
This mechanic allows grenade skills to ignore their normal cooldowns while dramatically increasing their fire rate, creating a fast and highly explosive combat sequence.
conclusion:
Nightfall and Redemption will both be available as in-game Unique Items when Return of the Ancients launches on May 29.
With these reveals, Grinding Gear Games continues showcasing new gameplay mechanics and item designs coming in Path of Exile 2’s upcoming 0.5.0 expansion.
