Path of Exile 2 Patch Notes 0.4.0d – Temple changes and improvements

Patch 0.4.0d arrives this week, with the Path of Exile 2 Patch Notes 0.4.0d focusing on quality-of-life improvements, clearer system information, targeted boss adjustments, and a wide range of bug fixes.
Key highlights include improvements to the Temple from the Fate of the Vaal League, better interface feedback for players, adjustments to specific bosses and skills, and multiple technical and stability fixes.
Fate of the Vaal League – Temple changes and improvements
Patch 0.4.0d introduces multiple improvements to the Temple experience in the Fate of the Vaal League.
Players who die during the Architect or Atziri boss fights inside Atziri’s Temple can now respawn in a new Temple instance, with most other content removed. This works similarly to how endgame maps function, helping prevent full Temple resets after a single mistake.
In addition to this change, several improvements were made to how the Temple system behaves and communicates information to the player:
The placement variance of the Holten league mechanic has been improved, and Energized Crystals have been re-enabled.
Atziri’s Chambers now correctly connects to any room placed next to it, fixing previous connection issues.
The Temple now requires at least one room to be placed before it can be opened, preventing accidental openings and better guiding new players through their first Temple. This restriction can be bypassed by holding Ctrl while clicking the Run Temple button, while gamepad users receive a confirmation prompt.
The Temple Map itself received multiple clarity improvements. It now visually indicates whether a room has been completed or is unreachable, making planning routes through the Temple much clearer. The Temple Mods list was also updated to match the in-map Mods List shown while running a Temple.
When hovering over rooms in the Temple Map, players now see clearer information about possible upgrade paths. In addition, Atziri’s Chambers includes new description text explaining how the room is unlocked.
Terminology was also refined, with the Temple Destabilisation keyword updated to clearly distinguish between random destabilisation and destabilisation caused by room completion.
Several Temple-specific bugs were fixed as part of this patch. These fixes ensure that monsters inside the Vaal Temple receive the intended Monster Effectiveness, prevent transcendent limbs from persisting after death, stop non-Temple owners from seeing dropped Temple Medallions, and resolve couch co-op issues related to Unique reliquary displays and medallion pickup limits.
General changes and interface improvements
Patch 0.4.0d also introduces several general improvements aimed at improving interface clarity and access to information.
The character sheet now displays how much armour, evasion and energy shield come specifically from items, providing a clearer defensive breakdown.
Skills that reserve Spirit now show their final, modified Spirit reservation in the skill information popup.
Buffs applied to enemies now display their names when hovered, making active effects easier to identify during combat.
In addition, Passive Skill Tree Notable Anointments can now be viewed without first picking up a Distilled Emotion. Players simply need to hold ALT while hovering over a notable passive to see available Anointment options.
Boss and skill adjustments
Several bosses encountered within the Trial of Chaos received damage adjustments in this patch.
The overall damage dealt by Bahlak, The Sky Seer has been reduced.
The overall damage dealt by Uxmal, the Beastlord has been increased.
All Quadrilla monster variants now deal more damage.
The damage dealt by Vornas, the Fell Flame has been reduced.
The damage dealt by Morvak, the Infernal has been reduced.
Skill behaviour was also refined in a few cases. Phantasmal Arrow no longer targets the ground, resolving several range-related issues when used with additional projectiles and Barrage.
Spectral Fire now correctly uses the player’s stats when calculating its area of effect and damage. Its description was also updated to clarify that damage modifiers do not further scale the explosion, which is a text-only change.
Additional general improvements
A number of smaller but meaningful improvements were also included:
Socketing an augment now displays distinct artwork representing the augment, instead of a generic rune image.
An informational popup was added when hovering over the button to run Logbooks, making it clear that a destination area must be selected first.
The weapon requirement for Smith of Kitava’s Temper Weapon was updated to explicitly state that it cannot be used with Talismans.
The Slow keyword was clarified to indicate that monsters cannot be slowed below 25% of their base movement speed.
Texture streaming was further improved to help prevent active textures from being unloaded during gameplay.
Bug fixes
Patch 0.4.0d includes a wide range of bug fixes affecting encounters, items, skills, Atlas passives, visuals and overall stability.
These fixes address issues such as enemy spawns not behaving correctly, unintended interactions between unique items, inconsistencies in Atlas passives, skill-related bugs involving Devour, Spectral Fire and Raging Spirits, visual issues affecting microtransactions, missing dialogue for Druids, and several platform-specific problems.
Multiple crashes were also resolved, including crashes related to Firestorm, Hollow Palm Technique, Garukhan’s Resolve, and common stability issues on Xbox and PlayStation systems.
Conclusion:
Patch 0.4.0d for Path of Exile 2 is focused on refinement rather than major overhauls. It improves clarity across core systems like the Temple, enhances interface readability, applies targeted boss and skill adjustments, and resolves a large number of technical and gameplay issues.
All changes described above are based exclusively on the official patch notes published by Grinding Gear Games for this update.
