In Path of Exile 3.29 Curse of the Allflame, players will meet Valerie, a dangerous corsair captain who needs help recovering long-forgotten treasures from the icy depths of Wraeclast’s oceans.
Charts can be found throughout Wraeclast and used to begin the journey aboard The Sovereign, Valerie’s ship. From there, players will set sail and explore what lies beneath the ocean.
Descend Into the Depths
The new league mechanic takes players to the ocean floor, where lanterns imbued with a spark of the Allflame provide protection from the crushing waves.
While the lanterns remain active, players can explore the area and search for lost Gold, valuable chests and other rewards. However, threats are also waiting beneath the surface.
As the lanterns begin to flicker and fade, players must return to the safety of the Bathysphere while escaping creatures that despise the light.
Plan Your Voyage
After charting enough areas, players can connect them on the Voyage Board to create a Voyage, forming one large expedition across the ocean floor.
Each Chart included in a Voyage can be revisited, allowing its rewards to be claimed again. These rewards can also be amplified in several different ways.
Every charted area reveals a modifier that applies during a Voyage. The edges of the Voyage Board also contain randomised effects that influence adjacent Charts during each expedition, adding further rewards.
Special Charts can lead to rewarding locations beneath the ocean. These areas may contain treasure-filled chests, sunken Abyssal pits and ancient artefacts waiting to be discovered and returned to the surface.
Allflame Crafting
Below deck, players will find the heart of The Sovereign at work.
When an item is placed into it, the item is divided into multiple ghostly outcomes. Players can then select one of those outcomes to keep.
Valuable Ducats can also be discovered on the ocean floor. These items can be used to warp and twist equipment in ways that have not been seen in centuries.
Survive the Black Current
Special types of Charts can be discovered while travelling throughout Wraeclast.
Some of these Charts may lead players to particularly unwelcoming waters.
Mercenaries of Trarthus Return in Path of Exile 3.29
The Mercenaries of Trarthus are once again roaming Wraeclast in search of challengers.
Players can face a Mercenary in a duel. Defeating one allows the player to claim a powerful item carried by that Mercenary and recruit them as an ally for the remainder of the area.

Curse of the Allflame introduces a new Ascendancy class for the Scion called the Luminary.
After becoming a Luminary, players can permanently hire a Mercenary as an active ally in combat.

After completing Maps affected by a Voidstone, there is a chance that an anomaly will appear on the Atlas. These anomalies are areas that can be completed once and may provide powerful rewards.
One example features Cadiro Perandus, a mysterious trader who offers unusual curios in exchange for Gold. Another anomaly can contain a fully revealed Heist Blueprint wing.
Several Atlas Anomalies can be discovered, with each one connected to a specific quadrant of the Atlas.
Socket Colours Reworked in Path of Exile 3.29
Socket colours will no longer restrict which Skill Gems and Support Gems can be placed inside them.
Any coloured gem can now be inserted into any socket, regardless of whether the socket is red, blue or green.
Coloured sockets will continue to have a purpose. Placing a gem into a socket of the matching colour will grant additional Quality to that gem.
Spellcaster Rebalance
Spellcasters are receiving major improvements in Curse of the Allflame, particularly characters that cast their Spells directly.
More than one hundred existing Spells have been rebalanced. These changes are intended to create clearer differences between Spells associated with different damage types.
