The launch of Path of Exile 2: The Third Edict last weekend brought with it the first official league mechanic, Rise of the Abyssals, alongside new content in Act 4 and the Interludes. Since release, Grinding Gear Games has deployed 13 hotfixes and confirmed that patch 0.3.0b will arrive by the end of the week. This update addresses a wide range of issues, including the bug with the Warbringer’s Totem Ascendancy Notable.

Path of Exile 2 patch 0.3.0b – Rise of the Abyssals Changes
Abyssal monsters have received important rebalancing to make progression smoother. You can now summon them as Spectres, and the Vessel of Kulemak has been fine-tuned: its Teleport Slam can no longer be avoided but deals less damage, and its arena-wide cleave is easier to read and dodge.
Other Abyssal enemies have also been adjusted. The Strider of the Pit has a global cooldown on its Spear Slam and will stop tracking players with Storm when too far away. The Shepherd of the Pit moves more slowly and deals less damage with its ground effects. The Lightless Moray now has a clearer invulnerability visual and reduced ignite damage from its shade explosion.
Progression in the campaign has also improved. Abyssal monsters no longer unleash all of their abilities from Act 1, but instead introduce them gradually across the first three Acts. Finally, the annoying motion blur when closing Abyssal Pits has been removed.
Other Game Improvements
With the release of Path of Exile 2 patch 0.3.0b, several quality-of-life updates have been implemented alongside the league changes.
Beyond the league itself, SOME NERFS AND many quality-of-life changes are included. One-time Rare Monsters in the campaign no longer retain fixed hidden modifiers when turned into beasts or spectres. Sprinting no longer locks onto enemies, making movement more responsive.
In the Well of Souls, you can now:
Use Instance Management (Ctrl+click)
Use commands like /hideout directly
Maps also received attention. Maps without a boss no longer spawn arenas with only rare packs, and progression issues in maps such as Derelict Mansion, Razed Fields, and Arastas have been resolved. Boss arenas now open consistently after deaths, preventing softlocks.
Boss encounters were rebalanced as well. Torvian’s bouncing axe projectiles travel more slowly and his freeze buildup was reduced. Yama’s foresight skill is easier to read, Krutog’s slam combo is now unavoidable but more predictable, and Azmadi’s triple lacerate tracks players more fairly. Several other bosses, such as Siora and Oswin, had their encounters improved to avoid frustrating scenarios.
The Soul Siphoner monster modifier has been reworked: the inner ring now reduces damage dealt, the outer ring reduces skill speed, and both rings deal Physical Damage over Time instead of Lightning damage while draining mana.
Finally, a number of descriptions have been clarified, such as Lifetap Support (now clearly states it converts the entire mana cost into life), Infernal Cry, Thunderous Leap, and Meditate.
Bug Fixes
Patch 0.3.0b resolves a massive list of bugs impacting gameplay, progression, and stability. The Warbringer’s Answered Call now correctly summons Ancestral Spirits, and skills like Whirling Slash, Frost Bomb, and Forge Hammer have had functionality issues corrected.
Some highlights include:
Twin Bow now has the correct attack speed relative to other bows.
Stash Tabs (Unique, Gem, Delirium) now store items correctly.
The quest The Grand Quest no longer blocks Expedition rewards.
Desync issues with totems and Earthshatter have been fixed.
Multiple controller and Couch Co-Op crashes were resolved.
Map progression bugs in Wetlands, Lofty Summit, Derelict Mansion, and others were fixed.
Spectres and tamed beasts no longer benefit incorrectly from out-of-combat regeneration while fighting.
Several skills and supports (such as Defy II, Ahn’s Citadel, Ember Fusillade, and Resonating Shield) now behave as intended.
UI and stash bugs, including incorrect sorting of Uncut Gems and missing microtransaction interactions, have been corrected.
Endgame and Act 4 cutscenes now play properly, and co-op navigation issues in the Well of Souls and waypoints have been fixed.
Whirling Slash Adjustment
One of the most notable changes in Path of Exile 2 patch 0.3.0b involves Whirling Slash. The update fixed a bug where the skill’s travel distance did not change based on attack speed. Although it was officially described as a fix, many players have experienced it as a nerf.
Previously, Whirling Slash had a consistent dash distance regardless of attack speed, which made it reliable for both mobility and clearing. After the fix, its distance is now reduced as your attack speed increases. This prevents characters from moving too quickly across the map, resulting in a shorter movement range than before.
Conclusion:
Patch Path of Exile 2 patch 0.3.0b is a significant step forward in polishing Path of Exile 2. With improvements to Abyssal enemies, smoother map and boss encounters, clearer skill interactions, and an extensive list of bug fixes, the game experience is becoming more stable and enjoyable.
The quick response from Grinding Gear Games shows their commitment to player feedback, ensuring that Act 4 and the first league, Rise of the Abyssals, remain exciting and rewarding for the entire community.
