Today, October 23, 2025, Grinding Gear Games hosted one of the most exciting broadcasts of the year: the full reveal of Path of Exile’s next expansion, Keepers of the Flame.
Presented by Jonathan Rogers and Mark Roberts, the livestream showcased a huge lineup of new content, from the long-awaited return of the Breach League to never-before-seen systems like the mysterious Genesis Tree, the powerful Grafts, and the new Bloodline Ascendancies. If you missed the broadcast, you can watch the full reveal on YouTube:
A New Call for Exiles
This expansion marks the rebirth of Breach, one of the most iconic leagues in Path of Exile’s history, but with a completely reimagined approach.
Now, the invasion has reached the shores of Wraeclast, and players must join the Order of the Keepers of the Flame, led by Ailith, a devoted monk who protects the land from the Breachlords.
During the opening acts, players gain the power of the Sacred Flame, learning to destroy corrupted hives and seal dimensional rifts spreading across the coast.
The Essence of the Keepers League
The new league completely reshapes how Breach encounters work.
Instead of simply opening portals and cutting down waves of monsters, players will now defend infected areas, monitor progress indicators, and even stabilize breaches before they collapse.
This time, your actions can draw the attention of Vruun, Marshal of Xesht, a new boss who will try to stop you from sealing the rifts.
It’s a redesign that preserves the chaos of the original league while adding modern systems and meaningful goals.
Corrupted Power and Mutated Uniques
The Genesis Tree can also produce mutated unique items, known as Foulborn Uniques.
These items undergo strange transformations, replacing one of their existing modifiers with entirely new ones, some beneficial, others unpredictable.

During the reveal, one example showed a Quill Rain that lost its projectile speed but gained increased area of effect, while another variant allowed bow attacks to ignore mana costs entirely.
This system forms a rewarding loop: the more blood and grafts you harvest, the more the tree evolves, and with each growth cycle, new crafting possibilities emerge.
The Genesis Tree and Grafts
At the heart of the expansion lies the Genesis Tree, found within the Keepers’ Monastery. This organic machine acts as a living workshop, capable of generating items, currency, gear, and grafts, a new class of items grown from Breach flesh.
Grafts are the highlight of the system: monstrous augmentations cultivated by the tree and fused directly into your character, granting both passive bonuses and powerful active skills. They can summon massive arms that slam the ground, conjure icy storms, or create radiant zones that buff nearby allies. As you progress, you’ll unlock additional graft slots, allowing deeper build customization.
The Genesis Tree thrives on the blood of the Breach, and its growth can be directed through a dedicated passive tree, influencing everything from loot rarity to the creation of flesh-based currencies, grotesque versions of classic orbs that only modify Grafts.

Endgame Evolution
at the endgame, the corruption grows unchecked. The Breach hives that once appeared as small clusters now manifest as gigantic organic cities, shaped by the Breachlords themselves. These towering Breach Hives are large-scale encounters filled with enemies and rewards, requiring players to invade and burn them down with Ailith’s sacred fire.

Within these twisted realms, you’ll also face the Breachlords directly, now stronger, deadlier, and holding new treasures bound to the Genesis Tree’s dark magic.
New Skills and Combinations
Alongside its new mechanics, Keepers of the Flame brings a full arsenal of new skill and support gems.
The revealed abilities range from kinetic wand attacks that fill the battlefield with unstable energy to fiery bombardments and storms of wind and lightning that obliterate entire packs.

These additions open up fresh build opportunities while breathing new life into classic archetypes.
Bloodline Ascendancies
One of the biggest surprises of the livestream was the introduction of Bloodline Ascendancies, secondary classes that allow players to absorb the power of specific endgame bosses. There are ten different bloodlines, each connected to a past league and its respective boss, including Trialmaster, Ashabi, and the King in the Mists.
Players can now mix and match their main ascendancy with these new powers, creating combinations that were previously impossible. The result is a new layer of build experimentation unlike anything seen before in Path of Exile.

Uber Encounters and Legendary Rewards
The expansion also introduces three new Uber Pinnacle encounters, reimagined versions of existing boss fights infused with enhanced mechanics and rare, high-value loot. These challenges, born from Zana’s memories, demand precision and mastery, offering endgame rewards for the most dedicated players.

Asynchronous Trade Arrives
One of the most celebrated announcements from the stream was the arrival of Asynchronous Trade in Path of Exile 1.
Starting in Act 6, Faustus becomes the new trade manager, operating the Merchant Tabs and Currency Exchange.
For the first time, players can:
List items for instant, direct purchase, even when offline.
Browse and buy through the in-game market.
Collect profits later from a dedicated tab.
It’s a modern upgrade that streamlines trading while keeping the traditional system intact.

Quality of Life Upgrades
Patch 3.27 comes packed with highly requested community improvements:
Heist Rogues now start at maximum level, eliminating early grind.
Both Atlas Passive Trees and the main Passive Tree can be reset instantly with gold.
You can now level up all gems at once with a single click.
Mass identify items directly through NPCs, no scrolls required.
These updates make everyday gameplay smoother and more enjoyable from start to finish.
